Mahmoud Abbas seems to be on the right track

Haaretz newspaper reported that the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas told George Mitchell, the American envoy to the Middle East, that in the event the Israeli government continues its settlement activities in the West Bank, he (Abbas) will resign the office of President of the Palestinian Authority:

This resignation, if it takes place, would mean the practical dismantling of the Palestinian Authority.  Thereafter, the world will witness how the state of Israel will directly assume its responsibilities as the occupying power of the Palestinian Territories under its control and occupation.  Mr. Abbas would be giving a clear signal that the Palestinian struggle will take a new direction.  That would be the first step in many steps that Mr. Abbas must take.  Nevertheless, he seems to be on the right track.

One Response to Mahmoud Abbas seems to be on the right track

  1. Arwah wafa says:

Mahmoud Abbas can’t resign. I don’t wish to say he is not allowed to make any steps without taking permission from the Israelis, Americans or western countries. Otherwise the donations of those will suspend. The Palestinian Authority never stopped abusing the nation by offering either the enemy’s peace or dying from hunger, and the problem is that they never give the nation the chance to chose or to answer. Don’t tell me, dear Monzer, again the man is not bad !!! He is the worst. The man decided many times to resign and I beleived him the first time but not any more. Maybe they are transforming him to be a joke !!!! Well, they succeded. Now what?
The answer is there (the path …..going forward …) and someone like Abbas is taking us backward.
