The Ottawa Citizen
It is disappointing, to put mildly, to read Terry Galvin’s piece in today’s Ottawa Citizen attacking an organization that has earned the respect of so many Canadians. Why is it that when someone tells the truth about policies and practices of the state of Israel, it becomes a reason for someone in the Ottawa Citizen to stand up in defence of the indefensible? Why is it that when the state of Israel violates international law; when Israeli military murders innocent civilians; when Israeli political leaders openly call for genocide against Palestinians; when Israeli actions are condemned by the entire world; someone in the Ottawa Citizen assumes the role of an apologists for the Israeli government? The Ottawa Citizen’s credibility becomes in question when you attack an organization such as Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) that consistently stands for the truth.
Is there anything wrong with calling for justice-based peace for all in the Middle East? CJPME does that.
Is there anything wrong with calling for respect for human rights for all in the Middle East? CJPME does that.
Is there anything wrong with calling on all to respect international law in the Middle East? CJPME does that.
Is there anything wrong with treating all parties in the Middle East with the same standards? CJPME does that.
Your attack on a highly respectable organization, that always checks and cross checks its facts before advocating a position, is unbecoming of a respectable newspaper.
Hope is the stuff from which life is made!
